All activities must be booked in advance.
Mountaineering : An activity that can be enjoyed thanks to the alpine relief found surprisingly in the Sancy. Ridge running, ice falls, snow corridors. Accompanied by your guide and equipped with crampons and ice axes, you can climb one of the massif’s highest peaks on technical itineraries adapted to your level and experience. Traditionally, the guide carries a maximum of one or two clients on his rope. But it’s also possible to do group initiations for up to 6 people.
New ! In summer, we’ll be traversing tapered ridges with climbing gear only, and running or hiking shoes !
For groups of more than 6 people, please call your Zsolt guide to discuss the best formula.
Ice climbing : this activity can be enjoyed during ephemeral periods when the cold freezes the waterfalls. If you’re there at the right time, you’ll have a great time and an original experience guaranteed ! There are introductory waterfalls, but there are also some technical waterfalls that can reach 80 metres !
Lift-served off-piste skiing at Le Mont-Dore : Thanks to the Mont-Dore cable car, this is one of France’s most attractive off-piste skiing spots ! Although the snow conditions are temperamental, the steep slopes, coulées and cornice ridges will make you feel right at home in the mountains. A guide is available for groups of up to 6 people. Some of the most exposed passages require the skills of a skier-mountaineer and the right equipment.
Ski touring : Discover the Massif du Sancy by ski touring through the most beautiful valleys : Chaudefour, Fontaine Salée, Val de Courre…
Away from the crowds and ski lifts, you’ll benefit from the expertise of a guide to help you learn all the subtleties of mountain skiing. For an initiation, a walk from the Capucin or the Chambon des Neiges will enable us to approach the techniques without going into the steep slopes with a group of 6 people maximum.
Avalanche research : Learn how to use an avalanche transceiver, understand the basic rules of nivology and the influence of weather on the snowpack, distinguish the main types of avalanche, and know how to behave in the face of danger. Vital notions that I will share with you thanks to my years of experience as a guide in many mountain ranges. This activity can be done in a group of up to 12 people or more with two guides, and can be combined with a course on survival in snowy conditions (building a shelter, a makeshift sled, backpacking, basic rope use, etc.).
Climbing : The Massif du Sancy offers many opportunities for climbing on different types of volcanic rock. There’s something for everyone, from beginners to advanced climbers ! You can take part in a group initiation (maximum 12 people) at one of the Massif du Sancy’s climbing schools, or enjoy an individual outing with your guide (one or two people) to climb a major route in the Chaudefour valley.
Via ferrata : A course equipped with metal rungs and cables on the east face of Le Capucin in Le Mont-Dore. This via ferrata is ideal for spending half a day with family or friends, enjoying the magnificent view over the massif and without getting scared, as it’s perfectly suited to beginners. For the more athletic, there’s a variation on the red course ! A maximum of 12 people can participate.
Canyoning : The two canyons located half an hour’s drive from Le Mont-Dore or Besse are an excellent summer activity for 10-year-olds and over !
Abseiling, jumping, water walking, tyrolienne splash ! It’s a refreshing way to spend your vacation. Group introductory courses available (maximum 10 people).
