Route description

A hike in the heart of the Puys chain, close to the puy de Dôme. The path, lined with beech and spruce trees at Mercoeur, leads to the foot of Puy de Lassolas (recommended climb to the summit), before opening out onto the Beaune agricultural plateau.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step :

Étape 1 : Opposite the drinking trough on Place du Bonnet, walk 30 m up the road and take the first turning on the left. At the road, take the path opposite, passing a water tower on the left and continuing straight ahead until you reach a crossroads.

Étape 2 : Continue straight ahead through the forest to a large crossroads.

Étape 3 : Go down the track opposite under the hazel trees. At the crow’s feet, turn left to the crossroads at the bottom of the slope.

Étape 4 : Take the left-hand path up through the woods to cross the pass between the Mercoeur and Lassolas puys. Continue down through the woods to a large clearing at the crossroads.

Étape 5 : Continue straight ahead on a wide track. At the crow’s-foot turn right, then left (Roche Quairière and cross on the left). Go downhill towards the village of Beaune. Turn left on the D52 towards a watering place.

Étape 6 : Turn right up rue de la Côte. 50 m after the wash-house, fork left under the church (panoramic view of the puys de la Vache, Mey, Lassolas and Mercoeur). Continue along a property wall. Continue to the second crossroads at the top of the hill.

Étape 7 : Turn left. At the crow’s-foot, go straight on to the village of Laschamp (view of the Puy de Dôme on the right). At the road, follow it to the right, then turn right down the Chemin du Coudert to reach the parking lot.
