Route description

This trail through the wild and unspoilt Livradois-Forez countryside offers many testimonies to the past and to the life of man in this region : granite crosses, St-Eloy fountain, Croix des Rameaux and Croix des Rapans. Beautiful views of the Forez mountains.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : Traverser le D39, bifurquer à gauche, faire 50 m et prendre le premier chemin de terre à droite, parallèle à la route. Le suivre tout droit sur près d’un km en laissant les chemins à droite. Prendre à droite la piste forestière en basalte et continuer tout droit sur un km.

Step 3 : À l’intersection, prendre à gauche. À partir de Salles, suivre le chemin goudronné. À la D105, prendre à droite puis, 30m après, suivre le large chemin à gauche qui mène au Griffol. Prendre avant la route à gauche un sentier et passer entre deux bâtiments, couper le D39 pour prendre le chemin en face. Traverser le D39 et rejoindre la Mairie.

Additional information

For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Access

From Saint-Amant-Roche-Savine, take the D996 towards Ambert. After less than a kilometer, turn right onto the D39 towards Saint-Eloy la Glacière. After 4km, keep following signs for Saint Eloy la Glacière. The start is at the town hall.
