Route description
Between the Combrailles plateaux, the Chaîne des Puys and the Limagne plain, this region is a real treasure trove : water and stone in all their forms (architecture, sculpture, fountains and springs…).
This tour “At the gates of Riom” will take you from Mozac and its Cistercian abbey to Châtel-Guyon, a spa town with 12 springs.
Then you’ll cross Gimeaux with its petrifying springs to reach Combronde, a wine-growing village.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
Step 1 : Ce circuit “Aux portes de Riom” vous entrainera de Mozac et son abbaye cistercienne vers Châtel-Guyon, ville thermale riche de 12 sources.
Step 2 : Puis vous traverserez Gimeaux avec ses sources pétrifiantes pour atteindre Combronde, un village vigneron.
Step 3 : Enfin lors de la dernière partie du circuit, vous rencontrerez les premières difficultés avec la côte des Ballages avant d’arriver au gour de Tazenat, un lac volcanique naturel exceptionnel.
Environ 3 h pour une vitesse moyenne de 20 km/h.
