Departing from Vollore-Montagne, this 31.9 km, 1,050 m climb offers a demanding adventure between deep forests and high altitude panoramas.
Right from the start, a steady climb leads into the Aubusson forest, a vast expanse of woodland emblematic of the area. This is followed by a long, technical descent, requiring care and mastery, before the ascent to one of the region’s must-see peaks : the Pierre Pamole, which rises to 1,204m and offers views of the Chaine des Puys, Monts du Forez and Massif du Sancy. Its name, “Pamole”, comes from the ancient Occitan language, evoking a stone that was easy to shake, although its solidity is undeniable today.
After enjoying the panoramic views, the descent takes in the Col du Pertuis, before a more gradual return to Vollore-Montagne.
