Route description

It’s a pleasant family walk on a hilly meadow on the edge of the Randan woods and close to the Château de Maulmont.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : Face au panneau de départ, partir à droite sur le chemin goudronné. Au carrefour en T, continuer toujours à gauche, en ignorant le premier chemin à droite, et descendre jusqu’à la sortie du pont de chemin de fer.

Step 2 : De là, continuer à descendre, passer un ru et remonter de l’autre côté du vallon sur un chemin à flanc de colline et à l’orée de la forêt. Suivre ce chemin à gauche, jusqu’à l’entrée du lieu-dit Les Bénédins.

Step 3 : Traverser le hameau. Continuer en descendant. Franchir le ru. Laisser un chemin à gauche, passer un autre ru puis prendre un chemin à gauche. Emprunter un pont au-dessus de la voie ferrée. Poursuivre ce chemin jusqu’au point de départ.

Additional information

For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Access

From Randan (north-east of Clermont-Ferrand), turn right on the D59, which becomes the D93 towards St-Sylvestre Pragoulin, St-Yorre, then right on the C3 to Vieux St-Sylvestre. At the bus shelter in the village, turn left onto rue des Noyers as far as La Doualle.
