Route description
From Ternant-les-Eaux, the path leads to the chapel of Dauzat-sur-Vodable perched on a volcanic peak. The descent into the forest leads to several ferruginous springs.
Starting point – From the starting sign (Romanesque church, bread oven, old well, old washhouse, water trough) go up the steep street behind the church chevet. At the last house turn right on the asphalt road until you reach a first road on the left. Take it to the road.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
Step 1 : Du panneau de départ (église romane, four à pain, vieux puits, ancien lavoir, abreuvoir) monter la rue abrupte derrière le chevet de l’église. À la dernière maison tourner à droite sur la route goudronnée jusqu’à un premier chemin à gauche. L’emprunter jusqu’à la route.
Step 2 : Monter la route sur 10 m, tourner à droite et gravir un chemin pierreux. Au sommet suivre le chemin goudronné à droite puis le premier chemin goudronné à gauche jusqu’à la route. Emprunter celle-ci à droite puis un large chemin à gauche jusqu’à un croisement. Bifurquer à droite pour arriver à un chemin transversal (vue sur la butte de Vodable et le Puy d’Ysson).
Step 3 : Descendre à droite en ignorant les chemins de droite et de gauche jusqu’au fond du val. Continuer tout droit en remontant jusqu’au croisement sur le plateau (point de vue de 360° : vue sur le massif du Sancy, la chaîne des Puys, la plaine de l’Allier, les monts du Livradois-Forez).
Step 4 : Tourner à gauche. Poursuivre jusqu’au croisement en T face à une cabane en pierres sèches. Bifurquer à droite puis à gauche 150 m plus loin. Au croisement continuer tout droit en direction de Dauzat-sur-Vodable (vue sur le prieuré et le site de l’ancien château) jusqu’au monument aux morts.
Next step
Step 5 : Traverser la route, descendre à gauche le chemin goudronné puis herbeux. Continuer en sous-bois. Laisser un chemin à gauche. Au carrefour suivant continuer tout droit le chemin principal sur la crête jusqu’à une passerelle franchissant le ruisseau des Rivaux.
Step 6 : L’emprunter, puis franchir un escabeau. Traverser le pré et prendre le chemin dans la vallée longeant le ruisseau (source ferrugineuse). Dans une courbe, laisser un chemin à droite. Rejoindre la D148 qui ramène au point de départ.

Additional information
For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Access
Take the A75 towards Montpellier. At exit 15, take the D909 towards Saint-Germain-Lembron. As you enter the town, turn right onto the D48 towards Boudes-Ternant. In Ternant-les-Eaux, park near the church.
