Route description
A walk that takes us to the village of Saint-Yvoine, which has protected itself from invasions by perching on a rocky outcrop overlooking the gorges of the Allier, which meanders at its feet. Beautiful views of the château de St-Mande, the Lembron and Issoire.
Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
Step 1 : Opposite the start sign, turn left and go downhill. Keep to the left. At the first houses, turn right and go as far as the road.
Step 2 : Cross the road and head uphill. At the first intersection, turn left and then left again after 200 m. Follow the balcony path (PV1 : view of the Chaîne des Puys, Montpeyroux, Yronde-et-Buron) past the water tower. At the stone cross, continue straight ahead on the wide track for 1 km, then leave it to descend steeply to a small road.
Step 3 : Turn left, then 50 m after the Trezins road, turn right and cross the stream. On the way, turn left four times. Go down to the road, cross the bridge, continue and turn right into rue de la Trolhée. Head for La Ribeyre. On the way down, pass the picnic area and the Roman bridge (PP1). Continue to the crossroads near the freeway.
Step 4 : Go left into the undergrowth. At the T junction, go right, up a wide track and turn right. Return to the orientation table (200 m) (PV2 : 360° panorama). Continue to the road, turn right and take the Cros-Roland climb. Head towards the church, take impasse Saint Roch, then right into impasse Roche-sur-Allier and round the rocky spur known as Pierre Ancize (notched rock) (PV3 : view over the Allier valley). Return to the starting point.

Additional information
For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Access
Access to start : from A75, exit 9 St-Yvoine, go to St-Yvoine (D713), pass the town hall then go to the cemetery. Parking lot and signpost.
