This circuit on a wooded plateau offers beautiful panoramic views of the Sancy, Dordogne and Combrailles foothills. The village of Granges and its castle ruins are well worth a visit, as is Tauves with its important rural crafts.

Step 1 : From the start sign behind the town hall, cross the main street and take the road opposite the fountain. At the traffic circle, continue towards La Tour-d’Auvergne. At the first intersection, turn left towards Tyrande. At the bend at the entrance to the hamlet, continue straight ahead on a sunken lane to the D922 (picnic area).
Step 2 : Cross the road and continue straight ahead between the dairy buildings. Continue straight ahead on this track, passing a stream, as far as the crossroads in the village of Granges. Continue straight ahead between the houses. At the fork in the road (chapel and castle ruins), descend to the left, then fork right to skirt around the hillock and return below the chapel. Go straight ahead, take the first track on the left and climb up to a tarmac road.
Step 3 : Turn left. At the road (view of the Sancy massif and Cantal mountains), continue straight ahead. At the fork, turn right, and at the next fork, go straight down a track to Tauves. Cross the D922, follow the D29a for 100 m, then head towards the town center and descend to reach the starting point.
