Route description
A tour at the foot of a volcanic cone that winds its way through the pretty Vèze valley and offers views of the Gorges de la Rentières (nearby) and the Forez mountains. In the background the fortified village of Fromental watches over this territory.
Starting point – From the starting sign located on a slope along the D126, take a path down below. At the first T-junction continue to the right, at the T-junction continue to the right until you reach the junction of a road on the left (thematic table on the history(…)

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
Step 1 : Du panneau de départ situé sur un talus en bordure de la D 126, prendre en face un chemin en contrebas. Au premier croisement en T continuer à droite, au croisement en T suivant poursuivre à droite jusqu’à l’embranchement d’un chemin sur la gauche (table thématique sur l’histoire de Sainte Florine).
Step 2 : Emprunter ce chemin en aller-retour (10 mn) pour descendre jusqu’à la chapelle (chapelle Sainte-Pezade, orgues basaltiques). Rejoindre le circuit et descendre à gauche. Au fond de la vallée franchir par un vieux pont de pierre le ruisseau de Vèze, puis monter sur le versant opposé (vue sur orgues basaltiques) jusqu’au hameau des Granges.
Step 3 : Prendre à droite une petite route goudronnée et continuer jusqu’à Vèze.
Step 4 : Au carrefour, prendre la route à droite et traverser le village (château). Continuer sur la petite route qui ramène à Mazoires.

Additional information
For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Access
Access from : A75 exit 17, take D 214 to Ardes, continue right on D 23 then follow D 36. Turn left onto the D126 to Mazoires. Parking lot next to the town hall.
