Step 1 : Opposite the town hall, take the tarmac road and follow the first gravel path to the right. Cross a stream, then continue straight ahead on a forest track to the D258.

Step 2 : Go straight ahead. As you go downhill, take the track on the right. At the crossroads, after the stream, turn right to Montformont. Turn right onto the road, leaving the track on your right. This becomes a footpath through the forest to Mandon. Cross the D44, take the track opposite and cross the D14 towards Le Vernet. At the stone cross, turn left.

Step 3 : At the next junction, turn right to visit the village of Montarcher along the GR3 (12th-century Romanesque church, views of the surrounding mountains). On leaving the village, fork left at the parking lot to join a path that leads downhill past the wash-house. Exit and follow the D14.5 for 300 m. In the village, at the inn, turn right onto the D44 and then left, near the chalet. Continue straight ahead on the track, then turn right. Cross the Monty and keep left.

Step 4 : At the corner of the house, turn left onto the D14, then immediately right towards La Faye. At the top of the hamlet, take the left-hand path into the woods. Continue along a path that climbs. At the crossroads, go straight ahead to join the D 96.
