Route description
Departure Chemin des Chaneaux. From Riom, follow signs for Marsat. Enter the village on the D83. Before leaving the village, turn left onto rue des Chaneaux and follow the road to the path.
Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
Step 1 : Start at Chemin des Chaneaux. At the Y, turn right. Go straight ahead and stay on the path alongside the road. Then turn left, continuing along the shady path for about 1 km. Join the hamlet of Les Ratiers and find a tarmac path.
Step 2 : At the fork in the road, turn left onto the tarmac road, go straight ahead and take the second track on the left.
Step 3 : Pass the Bulle kennel and take the path leading up the west side of the puy de Marcoin. At the end of the ascent, go straight on, then turn left along the poplar grove. At the end of the straight, continue on the dirt track.
Step 4 : At the bridge, take the left-hand path into the forest. Careful, difficult descent for a hundred metres. At the bottom, turn left.
Next step
Step 5 : Turn right, then straight on to La Fraisse. Turn left, then right at the top of the last hill.
