– Stele of the Resistance in Auvergne

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step :

Étape 1 : With your back to the start sign at 12 route de Tulle, turn right for 50 m. Turn left into rue des Dillures. When you reach the campsite, turn right onto a wide dirt track. Cross a stream, then turn left up through the forest to the road.

Étape 2 : Turn right, then take the first track on the left, which passes under the motorway viaduct three times, and descend into the Clidane valley. Turn left; go alongside an abandoned mill and turn left uphill. Follow this path along the Clidane. Leave the bridge on your right and climb up to the small tarmac road.

Étape 3 : Turn right and continue straight ahead on a wider road (view of the Sancy massif). After 100 m, turn left, take the cattle track, go down to the right and cross the main road. Continue straight ahead on a wide track which you leave on the left for a forest lane (a path on the left leads to a stele commemorating the Resistance in Auvergne, round trip 5 mins). Cross the road and, at the esplanade (water reservoirs), fork left. Go up the path and continue along rue des Peupliers as far as the post office. Turn left back onto the main street, pass the church and return to the starting point.
