The loop follows a bumpy track known as the Roman road, lined with beautiful hundred-year-old chestnut trees. Through the Régheat woods and the Boron valley, you can enjoy views over the Plateau des Milles Vaches and the Combrailles: a refreshing walk.
View on the Combrailles
Étape 1 : Opposite the old station, turn right then left towards Virlet; follow the road for 700m. Turn right towards Les Bizet, then right again. Go through the hamlet and uphill to a wide dirt track.
Étape 2 : Turn left, then right at the crossroads (PV1: view of the Combrailles). Cross the road, continue on the track opposite, following it straight on for 2 km, passing ruined buildings and continuing until you reach a tarmac track.
Étape 3 : Follow it to the right for 50 m and then, at the crossroads, take the track on the left. Go through a wooded area and at the exit (50 m before a road) go down a grassy path to the right. Cross the road and continue straight ahead. As you go downhill, turn left at the first junction and join a wide track. Take this path on the left. At the fork in the road, turn left, ignoring a track on the left, and climb up to a crossroads. Turn right and continue straight ahead until you reach a track rising to the left before a farm.
Étape 4 : Take this road and at the T-junction, turn right and then left. At the next junction, fork right. Stay on this path, ignoring the paths on either side, to cross the Régheat wood and reach a tarmac road. Go left, cross the bridge and then go right. Go through Les Ruas, keep going straight ahead and continue along this road until you reach a T-junction. Turn right, follow the road opposite, passing the old gatekeeper’s house, and at the next crossroads, turn left onto the D514a. Go through Seneix, then turn left towards Pionsat and return to the starting point.
