Route description

Here, cows peacefully reign, enjoying a privileged environment of rich, fatty grasslands with flowers and plants that give Saint-Nectaire and Cantal their inimitable taste. From this plateau, panoramic views of the Sancy mountains.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : Du panneau de départ, parcourir 20m sur la petite route et prendre à gauche un large chemin. Poursuivre pendant environ 1 km jusqu’à une intersection.

Step 2 : Tourner à gauche. Plus loin, ignorer un chemin à gauche, et 150 m après un château d’eau (vue panoramique sur le Sancy, le Cantal, la Corrèze, le Plateau de Mille Vaches), virer à droite. Laisser un chemin à droite et continuer tout droit jusqu’à une intersection avec une petite route.

Step 3 : L’emprunter par la droite. Au carrefour (croix à gauche), descendre à droite, laisser un premier chemin à droite, poursuivre la descente jusqu’à un transformateur au lieu-dit La Ribeyre. Partir à droite direction Fougeolles. Monter jusqu’à une intersection en T (croix), tourner à droite, puis à gauche au croisement suivant. Continuer tout droit pour rejoindre le point 1, et aller à gauche pour rejoindre le panneau de départ.

Additional information

For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Access

From Clermont-Ferrand, head for Tauves (55 km south-west of Clermont-Ferrand). 2km before Tauves, opposite a dairy, parking lot and start sign.
