Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : Head towards the church, skirt the cemetery and take the path opposite. Go straight on, ignoring the side paths, until you reach the road at the entrance to Gioux. Cross the road and continue on the minor road for 800m to reach a path on the right, between fences, leading up to the puy d’Ebert.

Step 2 : Take this path and, at the crossroads in the woods, turn left. The path skirts the puy d’Ebert, veers to the right as it climbs towards the summit without reaching it, and descends to a tarmac road. Continue downhill to the right until you reach the D216 road.

Step 3 : Cross the road and follow the wide track opposite (view of the Chaine des Puys) to Montcheneix. Turn right, cross the square (cross and bread oven), take the road on the left, then immediately the one on the right. Continue along rue du Château d’Eau, then rue de la Forge. After a washhouse and drinking trough, turn right to reach a cross.

Step 4 : Continue downhill to the left on the small road which becomes a footpath. Go under the power line and straight on to Saint-Martin-de-Tours. Cross the D216, go straight ahead into rue des Fontaines, then left into rue de l’Ancienne Ecole. Turn right, then left, and follow the tarmac road around the village to the right. Pass the stone cross and turn right to reach the starting point.
