Route description
In this small paradise full of plants, the path runs along the couze Pavin and climbs towards the lime of Verrières, wrapping itself around the Puy des Plattes and Bourgeassou. The beautiful viewpoints invite you to join the Roche Longue (volcanic “dyke”).
Starting point – From the starting sign, cross the bridge over the Couze-Chambon and turn right into rue de Charbonnière. At the end of the village continue straight ahead. Leave paths to the right and left, continue until you reach a crossroads.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
Step 1 : Du panneau de départ, passer le pont sur la Couze-Chambon et prendre à droite la rue de Charbonnière. À la sortie du village continuer tout droit. Laisser des chemins à droite et à gauche, poursuivre jusqu’à un croisement.
Step 2 : Monter le chemin herbeux à gauche en ignorant deux chemins à droite. À la route goudronnée monter à droite. Dans le virage prendre le 2ème chemin à gauche. Après le bois (vue sur le massif du Sancy), rester sur le chemin principal jusqu’à la grosse ferme à l’entrée du village de Fontenille.
Step 3 : Tourner à gauche, passer devant une étable et descendre vers le bois. Continuer par un sentier abrupt jusqu’à la Couze-Chambon, puis la longer sur un large chemin jusqu’à Verrières. Aux premières maisons, tourner à droite et rejoindre le point de départ.

For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Access
From Champeix, take the D996 to St-Nectaire. 5 km after Montaigut-le-Blanc, turn left to Verrières.
