Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : At the Rognon bridge, take the D640 towards Grandeyrolles for 30 m, and follow the path down to the Quinsat stream. At the small stone bridge, stay on the right bank and continue upstream, crossing four footbridges. After the fourth footbridge, turn right, cross the Combres stream, and follow the path as it winds up to the plateau.

Step 2 : At the crossroads on the plateau, take the path furthest to the right, which first descends slightly, then rises to a large track on the left (view of the Monts du Forez, the Couzes country and the Sancy massif). Continue to the crossroads in Thone-le-Vieux.

Step 3 : Cross the bridge to the left, then turn right towards Thone-le-Jeune. At the fork in the road, keep right and go downhill on the left through Thone-le-Jeune. At the exit, turn right (view of the Sancy), and continue to the entrance to Grandeyrolles.

Step 4 : Drive through the village (Romanesque church). Continue straight on, leaving the puy de Grandeyrolles on the left (view of the Livradois-Forez), and then take the winding descent of the path that passes under the Rognon tower and rejoins the starting point.
