A circuit with wide forest paths and a few more invigorating sections, where you’ll discover old mills along the Escures stream. You’ll dominate the Ambert plain, with beautiful views of the Forez mountains.

Step 1 : From the church, walk up the road to the cross. At the crossroads, turn right (right-hand view of Ambert and the Forez mountains). At the crossroads, continue straight ahead. At the entrance to Piry, turn left up the road. At the end of the hamlet, climb the paved path (right-hand view of Ambert and the Forez mountains). At the road, follow it to the right.
Step 2 : Go straight through Chantaduc and continue on the main downhill path. Cross the bridge and climb back up. At Charbaud, take the track on the left. After the Vialatte farm, turn left. At the next crossroads, turn left and cross the bridge. Continue left along the stream. At the crow’s-foot, turn right. At the top, take the path on the left.
Step 3 : At the road, turn left towards Menassaire. At the end of the hamlet, go down the path opposite. Cross the stream and continue straight ahead. At the crossroads of 4 paths, turn right. After the climb, follow the track to the left. At the reservoir, continue along the track opposite (with a view of Ambert) as far as Chelles. Go through the village.
Step 4 : 200 m after Chelles, take the track on the right. Continue as far as Pacros (view of Forez mountains and Ambert plain). Turn right at the crossroads. At the “patte d’oie” (view of the Forez mountains), go straight ahead. Take the road to the left, then left again on the other road. Take the first right downhill. After 50 m, fork right. Cross a stream. After the hill, go left (view of the Forez mountains and Ambert plain).
Step 5 : Cross the D56 and go straight down. Continue straight ahead. At the crossroads, cross the road and take the path opposite. Turn left down the road to Champetières. Cross the village and turn right up the road. Continue straight ahead on the track. At Chavagnat (view of the Forez mountains opposite), turn left. Go through the hamlet and down the track. Continue straight ahead. At the crossroads, follow the road to the right as far as Saint-Ferréol.

Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Access
From Ambert, take the D906 towards Arlanc. At the 2nd traffic circle, turn left onto the D56 towards Saint-Ferréol-des-Cotes.
