A pleasant circuit with numerous viewpoints (Chaîne des Puys, Sancy massif, etc.) and a rich heritage : the church of Saint-Vosy is one of the remarkable Romanesque monuments, and the lantern of the dead at Culhat (12th century) is an exceptional site.
– View of the Chaîne des Puys, the Sancy massif, the Comté forest and the Puy de Mur.
Step 1 : From the Place de la Charme on the outskirts of Culhat. Turn your back on the lantern of the dead and take the asphalt path to the right, skirting the reservoir. Cross the Litroux (view of the Chaîne des Puys and the Sancy massif), turn right and follow it. At the end of the path, turn right and cross the stream again. Pass two paths on the right and, at the fork in the road, continue straight ahead. Follow this path along the banks of the Allier.
Step 2 : At the crossroads, fork right and follow the grassy path (view of the Culhat bell tower opposite and the Sancy massif a little to the right). At the crossroads, continue straight ahead towards Culhat. At the pond (view of the Sancy massif and Chaîne des Puys), turn left. Cross the D4 and follow the track opposite. At the crossroads, go straight on.
Step 3 : Further up, on the plateau, turn right. At the T junction, turn left. Keep to this path (view of Culhat in the foreground, the Sancy massif, the Chaîne des Puys, the Comté and Puy de Mur). At a hut, turn right down the track. At the D332, turn right and, 50 m further on, right again. At the end of the path, follow rue des Fangiroux to the right and continue straight on to reach the lanterne des morts.
