Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : From the start sign, follow the finishing road downhill for approx. 600 m, then the route des cascades. 50 m before the stop sign, turn left onto the chemin des Monteyroux, then left again onto the path which climbs through the woods to reach a road. Turn right down this road for 150 m, then left onto chemin de Melchi-Rose. Follow this straight ahead to the road, leaving the Chemin de la Chape and Chemin de la Bane on your right.

Step 2 : Turn right onto the path leading up to the large waterfall. Cross the footbridge and continue straight ahead. At the top of the stairs (viewpoint), continue straight on towards Roc de Cuzeau. At the stepladder, cross the fence and follow it to the left until you reach a second stepladder. Climb the ladder and follow the fence down to the right, towards the shepherd’s hut. Turn left on a tarmac track to the Col de la Croix St-Robert road.

Step 3 : Cross the road and climb upwards between the fences, pass a stepladder and continue along the track towards a pass. Cross a second stepladder and immediately turn right to climb the puy de l’Angle (panorama of the Sancy, Monts du Cantal, Chaîne des Puys, Guéry and Chambon lakes). At the summit, turn left down the path shared with the GR4, then climb up the flanks of the Barbier and Monne puys and climb to the puy de la Tache. Go straight on, start the descent, pass a stepladder and stay to the right of the fence ; turn right to reach the Col de la Croix-Morand parking lot.

Step 4 : Turn left onto the road, after 500 m turn right and then immediately left onto the passageway. Cross a fence, go down into the undergrowth, pass another fence and continue on to under the ferme de la Tache. Take the small road on the left which leads to the D983.

Next step

Step 5 : Go straight down a stony track in the undergrowth. Do not cross the stream, but follow it along the right bank on a small path. Keep to the right to reach the foot of the Rossignolet waterfall. Cross the footbridges and go left up to the tarmac road, turn left and then immediately right towards the Queureuilh waterfall. Cross a footbridge and, in a hairpin bend, continue to the right (waterfall on the left). At the crossroads, turn right and at “Esperrats” continue straight ahead to reach the start.
