Route description
Saint-Gervazy, a village with a blond stone, is not lacking charm with its castle and church housing a black Virgin. The path climbs up on limestone forming a vast promontory with breathtaking views of the Livradois-Forez and the Cézallier.
Starting point – From the starting point, near the signposts, head towards the “13th century castle”. Turn right after the riding school. Cross the D35 and continue straight ahead until you reach the first road on the left.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
Step 1 : Du panneau de départ, poursuivre sur la route, passer sous le château (château du xve) et tourner à droite après le centre équestre. Traverser la D35 et continuer tout droit jusqu’au premier chemin à gauche.
Step 2 : L’emprunter (montée abrupte). Au croisement en T, prendre à gauche, et suivre la montée en courbe jusqu’au plateau. Continuer sur la droite en longeant le bord du plateau (vue sur la plaine lembronnaise, le Cézallier). Après la table d’orientation, rester en bordure de plateau (panneaux informatifs faune-flore comme seuls points de repère) jusqu’au panneau explicatif du Lac gris (zone de marécage). Franchir la clôture. Ignorer le chemin de droite. Plus loin, prendre le premier chemin à gauche et continuer jusqu’à l’intersection suivante.
Step 3 : Tourner à droite (vue sur le Cézallier à droite et les monts du Forez à gauche). Suivre tout droit sur 2 km ce chemin principal jusqu’à l’intersection en T. Partir à droite jusqu’à un chemin transversal.
Step 4 : Tourner à gauche (à 300 m, dans le virage, panorama et vue sur le château de Léotoingt). Poursuivre sur 900 m et descendre à droite sur un chemin qui conduit au village de Segonzat. Le traverser jusqu’à la croix à la sortie.

Step 5 : Emprunter la rue à gauche. Ignorer deux chemins. Au croisement, partir en face et continuer sur ce large chemin. À la fourche, descendre à droite jusqu’au hameau de Scourdois. Tourner à droite après le bâtiment agricole. Prendre à gauche avant le ruisseau. À la fourche, monter à droite, passer à droite d’un dolmen. À la D35, prendre à droite et, encore à droite, le chemin qui mène à Unsac. Sur la place (croix, fontaine et four), remonter à gauche la Grand’rue. Passer à gauche du monument aux morts et descendre jusqu’au carrefour avec la D35. La traverser et prendre le chemin à droite qui descend à Saint-Gervazy (vues sur le château). Tourner à gauche après le château pour rejoindre le départ.

Additional information
For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Access
At the Saint-Germain-Lembron exit (40 km south of Clermont-Ferrand), take the D141 to Saint-Gervazy.
