This walk takes in the magnificent village of Saint-Saturnin and the southern slopes of the Montagne de la Serre, with their low walls and century-old dry-stone or short stone huts, vestiges of a rural world where man has left his mark.
Étape 1 : From the start sign, follow the avenue of lime trees, passing between the town hall and the tourist office, then go straight on to a road. Turn right for 40 m, then left and straight ahead on a wide track to a crossroads. Continue left, past the Vocan property and straight ahead. At the crossroads, turn right and rejoin the road.
Étape 2 : Cross the road and go straight ahead for 400 m. Turn right onto a grassy path between two fields, which continues onto a footpath. Turn left onto a track leading up the hillside. Pass Les Côtes (vineyard ton and reconstructed low walls) and continue uphill. Ignore a path on the left and continue up to a fork. Follow the balcony path to the right (PV1: view of Saint-Saturnin castle and Romanesque church, Saint-Amand-Tallende, Monton, Corent plateau, puy Saint-Romain). Descend to the D213 road and follow it to the left until you reach a crossroads.
Étape 3 : Turn right down the D96 and cross the Veyre. After the Saint-Saturnin sign, turn right onto the Chemin de Saint-Verny, then take the first turning on the left. At the crow’s-foot, turn right onto chemin de la Pierre-Froide, pass the dovecote and immediately take the small road on the right as far as rue du Marché (PP1: old house on the corner of chemin de Laspouze). Turn left into Place du Marché (PP2: well, shoeing machine, weighbridge, cross), cross the road into Côte Gros-Jean, then Rue des Farges, and return to Place du 9/Mai.
All year round daily.
