Route description

On these heights with their harsh climate, the jasseries keep alive the memory of an entire pastoral way of life.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : From the Grand Genévrier and Coq Noir jasseries, turn right down the D106 for 300 m. At the bend, follow the path to the left into a meadow, cross the stream, continue on a terraced path and cross a stream again.

Step 2 : After crossing a stream one last time, turn right again, near the Grand Goulet woods. At the end of this wood, go straight ahead to the fence, and follow it to the right as far as the Pégrol jasseries, with a view of the Hautes-Chaumes. At the end of the fence, turn left to the signpost.

Step 3 : Turn left to Les Trois Fontaines. After the stream, there are two options : either cross the footbridge and climb to the top of the hill, with its panoramic views, then descend to the Col des Supeyres, or follow the tarmac road to the Col des Supeyres.

Step 4 : Cross the road and take the path rising to the left. At the crossroads, turn left again. Further on, join the “petit lapin” (little rabbit) markers of the “le colporteur des jasseries” trail, along a plantation on your right. Follow this to the left through the heather.

Next step

Step 5 : At the stream, turn left onto a terraced path, then left downhill. At the crossroads, turn left, leaving the “colporteur des jasseries” signs. Pass the jasserie and continue right along the small path through the heather, parallel to the road, to reach the Coq Noir.

Additional information

For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Access

From the village of Saint-Anthème, take the D139 towards the Col des Supeyres. 2 km before the pass, park at the Jasserie du Coq Noir parking lot, the starting point for the hike.
