Route description
A peaceful loop in the land of the “Lèches beurriers” : the bon vivants of Monestier, home of Henry Pourrat. At the top of the village, the Rocher de la Vierge offers a panoramic view of the valley, the Forez mountains and an orientation table.

Step 1 : From the Rocher de la Vierge onto the square. Go 200m on a tarmac track, turn right on a grassy path, then go 20m and turn right again on a gravel path. Follow this path around the rock.
Step 2 : At the crossroads, turn left onto a grassy track opposite a private cast-iron cross. Continue as far as Martinangues without entering the village. Turn left on a grassy track, then left again on a stone track as far as the entrance to Chaboissière. Turn left, then right after 100 m on a grassy path that continues through undergrowth and slightly uphill. At a second tarmac road, turn right and pass between the soccer stadium and the buildings of the former colony.
Step 3 : Walk up alongside the former colony buildings, joining a forest track. At the crossroads with another track, take the one leading up into the woods on the left. Reach the water tower. Below the water tower at the large stone, turn right onto the path leading down to the D996. Turn right and drive 300 m along the D996.
Step 4 : Cross the road to reach a wrought-iron cross. At this cross, go straight down a grass and stone path, skirting the woods. Join a tarmac road which you cross to take the road opposite, skirting a cast-iron cross. Continue as far as the village of Solignat. Do not enter the village, but take a grassy path passing to the right of the houses. Descend to the Rousse stream.
Next step
Step 5 : At the stream, turn left up a grassy path. Cross a stone track and continue straight ahead on a grassy path. Join the D996 at Le Cabaret. Cross the road and take the tarmac track opposite (slightly to the right), which leads up to the village of Le Monestier.

Additional information
For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.
