Route description

A lovely looping route through the typical wild landscapes of the Combrailles, with beautiful views of the Puys mountain range, the Puy de Dôme and the Combrailles.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step :

Étape 1 : Take this path. At the first crossroads, turn right. Continue straight ahead until you reach a T-junction. Turn right. Turn right 100 m after the pond. At the crossroads, go right for 20 m and then left as far as the Roberts farm. Cross the village. At the crossroads with the chalets, fork left (view of the Puy de Dôme and the Chaîne des Puys) and continue straight on until you reach the main road in Gourlanges.

Étape 2 : Turn right and take the first track on the left (shoeing loom). Turn left onto the road. Take the first track on the left and keep to it on the long descent into the valley. At the crossroads, turn right onto the small road running alongside the river. At the crossroads, turn left down the road to Les Peytoux. Continue straight on towards Péry, passing the inn and taking the track opposite. At the fork in the road, turn right uphill through the woods and continue as far as the intersection with a road (cross) in Péry.

Étape 3 : Turn right up the road and go through the hamlet. After the parking area (shoe loom), go down the road on the left and continue along the main road until you reach the Place du Lavoir in Bort (cross). Turn right onto the Chemin de Chabot and continue straight ahead. Turn left at the two successive T junctions. Go up to Villemorie and turn left onto the D50 as far as the fountain.

Étape 4 : Turn right into rue des Entraves, then left into rue des Noyers. Cross the rue des Goëllats and take the track opposite. Go down to a fork in the road and turn right. At the crossroads, at the corner of a wood, go right (view of the Puy de Dôme and the Puys mountain range). Ignore the side paths as far as the crossroads west of Les Berniards. Go straight ahead. Take the D50 on the left, then the first track on the right as far as the D122. Reach the starting point on the left.

Additional information

For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on the weather conditions, some routes are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked paths. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your rubbish.

Accès

At Saint-Pardoux (north-west of Riom), on the D2144, take the D50 as far as Blot-l’Eglise, follow signs for Manzat and then the D122 towards Combronde as far as the crossroads at the sports ground. Start sign on the left at the entrance to the tarmac road.
