Route description

From a beautiful arkose church, the walk takes in the village and then orchards watered by two rivers, the Monne and the Veyre. The path rises slowly, with many views over Limagne, Montpeyroux, Tallende and the Forez mountains.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Step 1 : From the start sign in Place de l’Eglise, turn right at the fountain into Rue des Fours. Continue along rue des Ecoles. Cross Place de la Ruppe, then the main street, and turn left into Rue Emile Paslier. Go up rue du Feix (communal well). Turn right down rue du Parc. Follow the Tallende-Veyre road for 150m. Turn right into rue des Rivières, then left into the orchards. At the intersection, turn right. Cross the Veyre. Continue to the next bridge over the Monne. At the intersection, turn right. Continue straight ahead. At the fork, turn right and cross the bridge over the Monne. Turn left (view of Tallende and Le Crest) and continue to the road opposite the stadium.

Step 2 : Turn left, cross the Monne again and take the right-hand climb. At the fork in the road, turn right at the information sign (view of Tallende, Le Crest, Monton and Puy St Romain). At the top of the hill, turn right (view of St Amant and Plateau de la Serre). At the next junction, turn left and continue to the next crossroads.

Step 3 : Take a 90° left-hand path (winegrower’s shelter). At the next junction, go downhill to the left, then turn left again. At the crossroads, go right, then left to the road (small bridge). At the Tallende roundabout, turn right in the direction of the town center, into rue des Forts, along the stream and up this street to the church.

Additional information

For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.

Getting here : from Clermont-Ferrand, take the A75, exit 5, direction Tallende. Parking near schools.
