From the calvary of a typical Puy-de-Dôme village, the route offers varied landscapes and beautiful views of the Sancy massif, including the Tuilière and Sanadoire rocks and the Ordanches banne, as well as the Chaîne des Puys and the Combrailles.
Step 1 : Take the grassy path which, passing at the foot of the statue of Saint Pierre, climbs to the calvary (panoramic view of the Chaîne des Puys).
Step 2 : Go downhill opposite, turn right onto the road that runs alongside the cemetery, and pass the starting sign again. Go straight ahead, to the left of the church, and turn left down the road, signposted “Le Léry”. Follow the D2089 to the right for 30 m ; turn right into the first street, then immediately left. Go as far as the underpass, use it and climb up through the village to a small road.
Step 3 : Turn left onto this road and, after 50 m, turn right onto a track. At the fork, turn right. Go through the woods and, at the end, turn right along the edge of the road. After 200 m, ignore a path on the right and descend onto the main road. At the T-junction, turn left. At the next crossroads, turn left, then left again at the intersection. Cross the Sioulot and follow the road up to the village square of Prades (stone cross and drinking trough).
Step 4 : Go straight ahead, cross the D986 and follow the narrow road to the hamlet of Rioux. At the drinking trough, leave the road and go straight down to the Miouze river. Follow it for 100 m to the crossroads (before the bridge).
Step 5 : Take the left-hand track and go downhill. Near the road (D80), take the left-hand track to the intersection at the end of the climb.
Step 6 : Leave the track for an AR (10 min.) to the right as far as the first intersection (view of the Banne d’Ordanche, puy de l’Ouire and the Tuilière and Sanadoire rocks to the south, the Chaîne des Puys to the west). Return to the path and continue. Just before the first Massages house, turn right onto the sunken path between low stone walls, past a fountain and on to the D80, which you cross and continue straight on to pass under the road bridge. Go right, cross the road, take the path on the left, go alongside a breeze-block wall and turn left. Follow the same path for 1.5 km to a crossroads (another yellow PR) (stone cross).
Step 7 : Turn left. Cross a small stream and follow it on your right (view of the Chaîne des Puys). At the road, turn left (bread oven with 2 fireplaces, picnic area) to return to the start. Click here to type text.
