A major cultural venue in the heart of Clermont-Ferrand, the Maison de la Culture is a must-visit destination dedicated to the performing arts and major cultural events.
• History & Architecture :
Opened in 1979 and designed by the architect Michel Vigneron, the Maison de la Culture (formerly the Maison des Congrès) is part of Clermont-Ferrand’s architectural revival of the second half of the 20th century. With its geometric lines, concrete and large glass windows, it forms a striking complex along Boulevard François-Mitterrand. Almost fifty years after it opened, it remains an iconic architectural and cultural landmark of the city.
• Auditoriums & Facilities :
The Maison de la Culture has two performance venues suitable for a wide variety of artistic forms :
– The Jean-Cocteau Grand Auditorium (1,344 seats)
– The Boris-Vian Auditorium (278 seats)
• A rich and eclectic programme :
Throughout the year, the venue hosts a varied programme : theatre, dance, music, contemporary and classical concerts, as well as major national and international events, foremost among which is the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.
• Access to the auditoriums :
– Jean-Cocteau Main Auditorium : access via the main doors opposite the tram stop (Boulevard François-Mitterrand).
– Boris-Vian Auditorium : access from Rue Abbé-de-l’Épée.

– Bus : Several T2C bus routes serve the area.
– Parking : Car parks nearby (e.g. Gambetta / François-Mitterrand car park, on-street parking).
