The old parish of Mailhat is a historic monument (1859) and its church built on a Gallo-Roman temple by the monks of Sauxillanges at the end of the 12th century in an elegant and ornate style that contrasts with the severity of the Romanesque style of the Auvergne region.
Starting point – From the starting sign, join the D123, take it on the right and then go up on the left the Chemin de la Fontaine. At the fork, turn right and continue upwards, leaving a path on the left (view of Nonette, the Sancy massif, the Cézallier, the(…)

Step 1 : From the start sign, join the D123, turn right and then left onto the Chemin de la Fontaine. At the fork, turn right and continue uphill, leaving a track on your left (view of Nonette, Sancy massif, Cézallier, Livradois). At the top of the hill, take the left-hand path for 100 m, then turn right and continue towards the Mailhat church. Drive through the village as far as the church, a 12th-century Romanesque edifice, and continue to the village exit.
Step 2 : At the intersection with the D123A, turn right onto the road for 350 m, then take the left-hand path to the road. Follow the road to the right as far as Lamontgie. Enter the village and go as far as the square.
Step 3 : Head towards Auzat, past the church and 50 m after the town hall, turn right into the first street, which becomes a track. At the crossroads after the high-voltage line, turn left. At the Plantiers crossroads, turn right and continue straight ahead until you reach a crossroads.
Step 4 : Go downhill to the left and turn right at the first crossroads. Continue until you come to a crossroads with 5 paths. Take the right-hand path towards Orsonnette. At the next intersection, turn left, then immediately right. After the cemetery, keep right to get back to the starting point.

Access
South of Clermont-Ferrand, A75 freeway, exit 15 towards Le Breuil-sur-Couze. Go through the village and turn left on the D123 towards Nonette-Orsonnette. In Orsonnette, park in front of the church.
