Step 1 : From the town hall esplanade, take the D310 towards Sallèdes. At the crossroads, take the dirt track on the left. At the road (with views of Saint-Julien-de-Coppel, Clermont-Ferrand and the Chaîne des Puys), go straight on. At another road, turn right through the village of Roche.

Step 2 : In the village, at the drinking trough, take a path to the right. At the cross, turn right up the road, then right up the path of the cross to the Virgin (panoramic view). Go down the stairs, past the chapel and down to the right of the reservoir. Leave the village on the track opposite, running alongside the sheds. At the fork, take the path furthest to the right. Follow the pond. At the end, turn right. Take the left-hand road through Pointilloux. Follow the D310 to the right for 200 m and take the first track on the left. After 50 m, turn left again (view of the Turlurons). Cross the farmyard.

Step 3 : At Lide, turn left at the tarmac and climb the track opposite. At the fork, turn right. At the intersection, go straight on ; do the same 500 m further on. At the top of the hill, turn right (view of Billomois). Keep to the main path. At the crossroads, go right. 50 m before the D301, take the track on the left. Keep to this path through the woods, then down a sunken track to the right (view of the Sancy massif).

Step 4 : Follow the D117 to the right. At the pass, cross the D229 (take care) and follow the D117 opposite. After 100 m, take the first right (view of Château de Mauzun, Montmorin and Monts du Forez). Drive alongside the buildings and continue along this path. At the edge of the wood, turn left (view of the Chaîne des Puys on the left and Clermont-Ferrand) and descend to Contournat. Turn right down the street, pass over the fountain and continue along the opposite street.
