Route description

Between its steep-sided valley, unspoilt wilderness and wooded slopes, the Sioule has become a lake thanks to the Fades-Besserve dam. It accompanies us all the way, with its beautiful views over the Sioulet valley and the Combrailles.

Trail highlights

– Viewpoint over the reservoir and part of its banks.
– Viewpoint over Confolant and La Chazotte

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step :

Étape 1 : From the car park at the Pont du Bouchet roundabout, turn left near the cross towards the beach. At the fork in the road, go right up to the road, cross it and go up the small tarmac road opposite, following it for 1.5 km until you reach a viewpoint over the dam reservoir; continue as far as the crossroads.

Étape 2 : Take the path furthest to your left. Walk along a fir grove until you come to a crossroads where a track rises to the right. Leave a path on the right and continue straight ahead until you reach a T-junction.

Étape 3 : Turn left through the hamlet of Les Chassaings. Head downhill towards the village of Le Bouchet. Cross the main road, continue straight ahead and turn left onto a grassy track. Cross a stream, go back up to the road and turn right for 500 m. At a bend in the road, go straight up a track as far as the Andrivet lookout.

Étape 4 : Turn left towards Confolant on a balcony path over the reservoir as far as the holiday village. Turn left as far as the Confolant crossroads. Continue straight ahead towards the campsite. At the end of the tarmac, take the left-hand path up to the top of the hill (viewpoint over Confolant and La Chazotte).
