Route description
A beautiful family hike with views of the Sancy, the Haute Dordogne valley and the Pic du Capucin. You’ll also pass through the remarkable Capucin forest, with a stop near the funicular railway.
This hike is sheltered from both sun and bad weather, as most of it is undergrowth.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
Step 1 : Au départ de l’office de tourisme, rejoignez l’avenue René Cassin, avant le pont de la Dordogne et continuez tout droit sur 300 m.
Step 2 : Continuez tout droit vers « l’aire de loisirs des Pradets ». Passez entre la luge d’été et le skate-park. Continuez tout droit et passez sur le pont au-dessus de la Dordogne.
Step 3 : Tournez à droite et passez devant le centre équestre. Une fois sur le chemin des Montagnes, continuez tout droit sur 900 m.
Step 4 : Prenez à droite quand vous arrivez sur la route de Pontauzy et continuez sur 800 m.
Next step
Step 5 : Tournez à droite pour rejoindre la forêt. 400 m plus loin, à la patte-d’oie, prenez le chemin qui descend à droite. Suivez le chemin des Artistes jusqu’au bout (environ 3 km).
Step 6 : Une fois arrivé à la route D645, tournez à droite et longez la route jusqu’à l’office de tourisme du Mont-Dore.

Bring snowshoes or hiking boots in case of heavy snow.
Remember to wear 3 layers of clothing, as some of the trail is undergrowth.
Not suitable for baby carriages.
Dogs allowed Dogs are allowed, but must be kept on a leash for the peace and quiet of all users.

Access
Parking close to Le Mont-Dore tourist office. This is located in the building of the sports and leisure complex (skating rink, bowling alley, conference hall), in the spa park in the town center.
