In 2020, as part of the Sensitive Natural Areas (ENS) policy, the Puy-de-Dôme Department acquired Lake Guéry. At the same time, departmental officials decided to maintain “public” fishing access at this exceptional natural site and to entrust fish stock management and fisheries management to the Puy-de-Dôme Federation for Fishing and the Protection of Aquatic Environments.
The primary objective of the ENS is to preserve the fragile natural habitats found on the lake, as well as all the animal and plant species they support.
A fisheries management plan has been implemented to allow for a variety of fishing practices suitable for families. Stocks of adult trout are scheduled to be released throughout the fishing season.
Fishing on Lake Guéry is permitted by adding an option (annual, weekly, or daily) to a permit that allows fishing in the open waters of the Puy-de-Dôme department.
