From Combronde, discover the heights and panoramic views of the Bourbonnais mountains, the Forez Massif and the Chaîne des Puys.
Step 1 : Just after the last house, turn right onto a wide track. Ignore 2 left-hand paths. At the T junction, continue uphill to the left. At the plateau, view of the Gergovie plateau and Riom. At the equestrian center, go straight on until you reach a road. Turn right. At the fork, follow the
left to the first track on the right.
Step 2 : Take it. At the intersection, go right. Pass a hamlet (Le Mas). At the crossroads, go left. At the fork in the road, at the entrance to a hamlet (La Brousse), keep right. At the stop sign, turn right onto the D409. Take the first track on the left (view of La Limagne, Monts du Bourbonnais, Forez and Livradois). At the next crossroads (view of the Chaîne des Puys), climb left (panoramic view) to the top of the hill.
Step 3 : Turn right and descend to a wide track. Follow it to the left. At Chalusset, turn left onto the road and drive over the dike of a pond. At the crossroads, turn right and after 100 m, go left (view of the Chaîne des Puys) to the first house in Les Borots.
Step 4 : Take the road to the left (rue du Bouchet). It soon becomes a footpath (overlooking the Limagne plain). Cross the road and continue straight ahead. 150m further on, leave the main road and go straight ahead. At the first fork, turn right. Ignore the left-hand paths until you reach a wide track. Turn
left and join a road. Go downhill (Chemin des Borots) to a crossroads. Turn right down Chemin des Combes. At the intersection, take the left-hand path. Cross the stream. At the road, turn left. At the bridge (cross dating from 1646), turn right along the stream. At the road, turn right. At the crossroads, turn left into rue du Général Desaix. At the end of the square, turn right, then immediately left into the Marché Déat passage. Turn right into Grand Rue. Pass Place du Maréchal Fayolle (former covered market, house with dovecote) and turn left to reach the start sign.
All year round daily.
For your own safety, always take a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and footwear suitable for walking.
Depending on the weather conditions, some routes are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked paths. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your rubbish.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.
