This is also why the owner of this magnificent gîte has opted for a capacity of 10 people, a way of recalling the conviviality of meals around the big farm table.
The location wasn’t chosen at random either : it’s here that Fanfan, then a child of the village, used to come and stand in the shade of an ash tree to watch over his cows, while enjoying the view of Lake Chambon to the south, the Chaudefour valley to the west and the feudal motte of the Château de Varennes to the east.
With its large terrace, the Gîte du PERE FRANCOIS is a veritable balcony overlooking the Lac Chambon site, dominating the other cottages in the vicinity with its double south/south-east orientation.

This accommodation has been designed in close collaboration with Arvernha Resorts, offering all the amenities to make your vacation more enjoyable : a bedroom with balcony to enjoy the view at sunrise, a master suite with its own shower room, a bathroom with whirlpool bath, a shower room with a large, comfortable walk-in shower, a large mezzanine with play area for children, a wood-burning stove with wood available, Wi-Fi provided, a large flat-screen TV with Canal+, a bluetooth column, a fully-equipped kitchen (2 fondue sets, crepe maker, 2 fridges, microwave, dishwasher) and a counter with built-in wine storage for aperitifs with friends.

Beyond these comforts, it’s the overall ambience of the Gîte du PERE FRANCOIS that you’ll appreciate : an interior featuring stone and wood from the slopes of our volcanoes, combined with light hues. The imposing wood-burning stove finds its natural place in an inglenook fireplace made of real lava stone, with a large oak beam forming the lintel. You’ll be amazed by the mezzanine floor, whose thick, untrimmed planks recall the rustic character of old-fashioned barn windows on which hay was forked.
You’re sure to feel right at home in the living areas of this gîte, where space is at a premium, offering you full height under the imposing exposed roof frame, with the lighting highlighting the puncheons.

On the first floor, the Gîte du PERE FRANCOIS comprises a large double bedroom (1 bed 160 x 200) with its own bathroom (1 basin, 1 walk-in shower), a twin bedroom (2 beds 90 x 190), a bathroom with whirlpool bath, 2 basins and changing table, and a separate toilet. In addition to the living rooms, the first floor features a laundry room (with washing machine and tumble dryer), a shed (for wood, bikes, sledges, etc.) and an entrance hatch.
The Gîte du PERE FRANCOIS can also be rented for 4 people (by opening only this level) outside school vacation periods.

Upstairs, a large mezzanine will welcome your children for moments of relaxation, and 3 bedrooms complete the sleeping facilities : a double room (1 bed 140 x 190), a twin room (2 beds 90 x 190) and a double room (1 bed 160 x 200) with balcony and lake view. A shower room with a large tiled shower cubicle and 2 basins, as well as a toilet, complete this level.

This recently-built home complies with the latest thermal regulations, giving you the comfort of optimum insulation and gentle underfloor heating in the living area. Hot water is produced using the heat released by the wet rooms.

Beyond its comfort, the Gîte du PERE FRANCOIS is ideally located for trips around Lac Chambon, for walking to the beach (800m), and for exploring the Sancy massif in summer or winter (25 mins from the Super-Besse or Mont-Dore ski slopes).
