Along the pilgrims’ route to Santiago de Compostela, in the middle of a hamlet that has kept its traditional character, you can stop off or stay in a world away from the world. You’ll be in touch with the heart of the Auvergne, with the village chickens roaming free, cows, calves, sheep, goats, horses and donkeys in the surrounding meadows. The air is pure, spring water flows from the tap, fir trees, pines and larches perfume the atmosphere. And if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to watch a Japanese print show as the mist accumulates on the valley floor and you contemplate it in the morning sunshine under the blue sky.
