Considered one of the most beautiful Cistercian abbeys in Auvergne, the Mègemont building, isolated in a valley 900 meters above sea level on the edge of the Cézallier region, is well worth a visit!

The Cistercian abbey of Mègemont was founded in 1206 by Dauphin, Count of Auvergne, for nuns. Around 1575, Captain Merle’s Huguenots destroyed some of the buildings and burned the archives.
