An important Gallo-Roman town at the crossroads of ancient roads, it was fortified in the High Middle Ages, as evidenced by the remains of ramparts. Artonne was visited by Saint Martin, to whom its famous Romanesque church was dedicated. Stroll through the village and you’ll discover the 11th-century Collégiale Saint-Martin, a listed historic monument, as well as 19th- and 20th-century fountains and typical winegrowers’ houses. A walk on the Puy Saint-Jean hillside will make you aware of the natural environment of the Limagne hillsides. And don’t forget a walk along the banks of the Morge. Guided tours in season.
