Pagan Calvary

Saint-Pierre-Colamine

Not far from the village of Lompras, a sculpted calvary traces its pagan origins back to Celtic times. It is the object of particular fervour during a religious procession in honour of the patron saint ‘Saint-Pierre’.

The side facing the road depicts a host placed on a pedestal, surrounded by rays forming a glory and surmounted by a small cross. The scene ‘The Virgin and Child’ can be seen.
