Situated on the banks of the Toulaine river, this château was built in the 16th century, then modified and considerably enlarged in the 18th century. Originally called Neufville, it took the name of the adjoining château in the 17th century. Restored and remodeled at the end of the 19th century in a highly decorative campaign, it was destroyed by a terrible fire in 1958. The building has the mysterious profile of a romantic ruin. It is currently being restored. An elegant portico opens onto the former ceremonial courtyard, as vast as a field of Mars. The inner courtyard is open to the public, but due to construction work, access to the built-up areas is forbidden and dangerous. The gardens are in the process of being laid out and partially restored, with lines of ornamental trees, formal parterres and topiaries.
