This church was built at the initiative of the monks of the Limosin Port-Dieu Abbey. It’s elegant southern portal has similar Romnesque art of the Limosin style but it’s chapel is typically Auvergnate. Various ornate modillions and corniches to admire.
Its three-cornered chevet with graduated elevation is typically Auvergnat. The Romanesque capitals feature interesting motifs (plant and human forms, including the capital of the goose thieves). This decorative richness is also found on the exterior modillions. Fiche patrimoine, Collection Trésors des Combrailles, on sale at Combrailles Tourist Offices.
