The porch is surmounted by a carved stone representing the arms and mottoes of the d’Estaing family (‘Sic me mea facta decorant’, or ‘Me, my honor is in my actions’), lords of Murol from 1455 to 1770.
It is laid out as a Latin cross with a single nave and simple choir. Sculpted decoration is limited to capitals adorned with simple foliage.
Around 1900, the church was fitted with a fine set of stained glass windows by the master Félix Gaudin of Clermont-Ferrand.
The interior of the church is painted and decorated with large, colorful compositions. These take the form of ornamental motifs, representations of saints and apostles, and above all nine large wall compositions, each measuring 12 m², depicting episodes from the New Testament. They are the work of Abbé Boudal, who was appointed parish priest of Murol in 1890 and remained there until his death, refusing any promotion. A monument in Volvic stone in front of the church porch pays tribute to him.
