Buttons, sawtooth motifs, animals and figures decorate the round arches of the Romanesque portal. In the center of the tympanum, an angel stands between a divine lamb and a mermaid pulling her hair, the most pagan of all creatures. Inside, the nave’s Romanesque capitals also interpret the medieval bestiary : a turtle is bitten by two snakes, birds sport monster heads, a mermaid and a bifid newt cohabit.
The choir ushers us into a Gothic world. The capitals feature large hooks and small human figures.
The building contains interesting furnishings, notably the Beau Dieu, a marble bust of Nonette, said to have been commissioned by Jean de Berry.

The Saint Nicolas church square corresponds to the perimeter of the former cemetery. To the north-west are the buildings of the Chaise-Dieu priory.

The Nonette church is currently not open to the public due to cracking problems : work will begin by the end of 2025.
