Beaune le Froid’s patron saint, Saint Roch, is still celebrated today by the village’s inhabitants on August 16, who are joined by tourists during the summer months.

The neo-Gothic Saint-Roch church was built in the 19th century, between 1894 and 1895.

Architectural description
The neo-Gothic Saint-Roch church was built in the 19th century, between 1894 and 1895.

The building is oriented and built on a longitudinal plan, flanked by two side chapels and an annex building on the south side.

The gable-wall west façade is blind and is punctuated by two buttresses. The church’s main entrance is on the south façade. It forms a semicircular arch surmounted by an oculus. The eaves wall features alternating round-arched openings and buttresses. The polygonal chevet also features round-arched openings. The square bell tower, at the top of the gable wall, features semi-circular geminated bays on each side. The building is covered by a gambrel roof ending in a polygonal hipped roof. The bell tower’s spire is pyramid-shaped.
