The mound of Brion, at a medium altitude (1273 m), preserves the remains of a castle protected by a ditch, a bailey and a wall. It is also a natural relief opening on an exceptional view on the Cézallier and the Sancy.

This castle was the seat of a seigniory that appeared in the late 10th or early 11th century ; the de Bréon family occupied an important place among Auvergne’s noble families in the Middle Ages.
