Auvergne is proud of its stone crosses and the quality of its ashlars. Originally, these crosses were intended to affirm the faith of the Christian people on public roads, crossroads, squares, bridges, summits, passes, watering holes…
Le Mont-Dore, like other towns in the region, boasts numerous stone and iron crosses. There are no fewer than 15 crosses to be discovered (at Genestoux, Rigolet Haut, Rigolet Bas, the golf course, the landscaped cemetery…).
