The origins of the Châtaigneraie go back to the 16th century. With its old chestnut forests, this forest is all the more remarkable for its rarity in the Puy-de-Dôme.

Its “Espace Naturel Sensible” label enables the commune of Beaumont to preserve this site in the long term.

The Châtaigneraie is rich in flora and fauna, with 195 different plant species and various species of small fauna :
