Sainte-Marguerite springs

– At the edge of the path and close to the Allier, the Isle spring is the first to be seen on the way to the site.

– At the edge of the path and close to the Allier, the Isle spring is the first to be seen on the way to the site.
– The geyser is an intermittent tapped spring: every twenty minutes or so, water gushes out of a pipe in a vast boil, then calms down again. The mineral water is immediately diluted with freshwater in a small reedbed.
– The main area is formed by the tennis spring, which is joined by the surplus water from the tapped catchments. After being channelled into the Allier for many years, it now flows freely. The result is spectacular: the spring has a high flow rate and a vast travertine crust has rapidly formed, over which the water flows randomly. Halophilic flora has slowly recolonized this new space.
