A simple and ideal route, thanks to its proximity to Clermont-Ferrand, for a stroll with family or friends in a rural area between the Chaîne des Puys and the Limagne. The varied landscapes and superb views of the Puy de Dôme will delight you.
– View of the Puy de Dôme.
– Chatrat: fountain, 2 wash-houses, drinking trough, bread oven.
– View of the Sancy massif and Cézallier.
Étape 1 : From the start sign, follow the cemetery and take a wide path to a road.
Étape 2 : Turn right (Route de Thèdes) and, at the next crossroads, turn left onto Chemin du Grelet. Cross the hamlet of Chatrat (fountain and bread oven). At the second watering place, turn right and continue straight ahead on a wide dirt track. Continue along the edge of the forest and stay on the main path. Follow it to an intersection with a view of the Puy de Dôme.
Étape 3 : Take the track on the left and follow the coniferous plantation. When you reach the meadow on the left, 100 m before a road, turn left and follow the path to the edge of the forest (views of Beaune-le-Chaud), then further on (views of Cézallier and Sancy). At the T-junction, turn right and drive down to the Beaune-le-Chaud church. Drive around it until you reach a crossroads.
Étape 4 : Go left up the road known as chemin de la Croix de Beaune. 100m after the top of the hill, turn right onto a path (view of the Livradois). Cross the road and go straight ahead on a wide track. Drive alongside the sports center and fire rescue center. Follow the road to the left for 100 m, crossing at the second crosswalk. Climb seven steps to reach the promontory on which, in addition to the church and a cross, there is a contemporary sculpture (known as the Arche) whose base indicates the directions of Saint-Genès-Champanelle’s many hamlets. Go around the town hall and down a narrow path, keeping to the left to reach the starting point.
From 01/01 to 31/12.
Subject to favorable weather.
